									<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Beliefs are the lens through which we see ourselves, other people and life in general. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Our beliefs determine what our lives look like. As Tony Robbins said, “</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are.” </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In order to achieve your goals, you must overcome your limiting beliefs that are preventing you from doing so.  </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">These 5 steps will help you overcome your limiting beliefs:</span></p><p><b>1. Identify an area of your life in which you are not getting the results you would like. </b></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Examples: </span>Work, Health, Financial, Relationship </p><p><b> 2.</b> <b>Identify a limiting belief that is hindering your success.</b></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Examples:</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I am not important.&#8221;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I don’t deserve more than I have.&#8221;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;There is no point in dreaming big. It only leads to disappointment.&#8221; </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I am powerless.&#8221; </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I can’t earn a living doing what I love.&#8221;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I don’t have time to pursue my goals.&#8221;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I am too old.&#8221;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I can’t change, this is just the way I am.&#8221;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I don’t know what God wants me to do.&#8221;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I don’t know where to start.&#8221;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I am afraid of trying and failing.&#8221;</span></p><p><b>3. Challenge the belief.</b></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">a. Ask: “What pain has this belief caused me in the past?”</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Examples: Frustration, stress, lack of fulfillment.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">b. Ask: “What pain will this belief cause me in the future?”</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Examples: Frustration, stress, lack of fulfilment.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">c. Ask: “What pleasure would I experience if I replaced this limiting belief with an empowering one?”</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Examples: Peace, satisfaction, fulfillment.</span></p><p><b>4. Replace the limiting belief with an empowering belief.</b></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Examples:</span></p><p><b>Limiting Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I am not important.</span></p><p><b>Empowering Belief</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: God knows the number of hairs on my head. </span></p><p><b>Supporting Bible Verse: </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">(Luke 12:7) </span></p><p><b>Limiting Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I don’t deserve more than I have.</span></p><p><b>Empowering Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I am the apple of God’s eye. </span></p><p><b>Supporting Bible Verse:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings, </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">(Psalm 17:8)</span></p><p><b>Limiting Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> There is no point in dreaming big. It only leads to disappointment.</span></p><p><b>Empowering Belief</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: I am the head and not the tail. I am the top and not the bottom. </span></p><p><b>Supporting Bible Verse:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall only go up and not down, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, being careful to do them, </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">(Deuteronomy 28:13) </span></p><p><b>Limiting Belief: </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">I am powerless.</span></p><p><b>Empowering Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I am a victor, not a victim. </span></p><p><b>Supporting Bible Verse</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">(Romans 8:37)</span></p><p><b>Limiting Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I can’t earn a living doing what I love.</span></p><p><b>Empowering Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> God will meet all my needs. </span></p><p><b>Supporting Bible Verse</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">(Philippians 4:19)</span></p><p><b>Limiting Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I don’t have time to pursue my goals.</span></p><p><b>Empowering Belief</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: I can set priorities and make the best use of time. </span></p><p><b>Supporting Bible Verse</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: Make good use of every opportunity you have, because these are evil days. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">(Ephesians 5:16))</span></p><p><b>Limiting Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I am too old.</span></p><p><b>Empowering Belief: </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">I will bear fruit in old age. </span></p><p><b>Supporting Bible Verse: </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">The righteous will flourish like palm trees; they will grow like the cedars of Lebanon. They are like trees planted in the house of the Lord, that flourish in the Temple of our God, that still bear fruit in old age and are always green and strong. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">(Psalm 92:12-14)</span></p><p><b>Limiting Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I can’t change, this is just the way I am.</span></p><p><b>Empowering Belief</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: I can change.</span></p><p><b>Supporting Bible Verse:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13)</span></p><p><b>Limiting Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I don’t know what God wants me to do.</span></p><p><b>Empowering Belief</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: I will ask God and he will tell me. </span></p><p><b>Supporting Bible Verse:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">James 1:5)</span></p><p><b>Limiting Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I don’t know where to start.</span></p><p><b>Empowering Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I can learn by seeking wise counsel. </span></p><p><b>Supporting Bible Verse</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Proverbs (15:22)</span></p><p><b>Limiting Belief:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> I am afraid of trying and failing.</span></p><p><b>Empowering Belief</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: I am not afraid because God is with me. </span></p><p><b>Supporting Bible Verse</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me? (Hebrews 13:6)</span></p><p><b>5. Act.</b></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. (James 1:22)</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Having replaced the limiting belief with an empowering one, it is time to take action.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ask yourself:</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">a. What action will I take?</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">b. When will I take action?</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Example: I will improve my skills by taking an advanced software development course by October August 2, 2021. I will meet with my mentor by August 15, 2021. 									<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Many of us tell ourselves lies. These lies can impact physical and mental health, decrease motivation and block success. Use these Biblical truths to replace the lies:</span></p><p>1. Lie: It&#8217;s impossible.</p><p><b>Truth</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> (Luke 18:27)</span></p><p>2. Lie: Nobody really loves me.</p><p><b>Truth:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.(John 3:16)</span></p><p>3. Lie: My physical health is preventing me from doing what God wants me to do.</p><p><b>Truth:</b> <span style="font-weight: 400;">But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2 Corinthians 12:9)</span></p><p>4. Lie: I can&#8217;t do it.</p><p><b>Truth</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">5. Lie: God will not forgive my sins.</span></p><p><b>Truth</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:12)</span></p><p>6. Lie: God is never going to help me.</p><p><b>Truth</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)</span></p><p>7. Lie: Nothing ever works for me.</p><p><b>Truth</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)</span></p><p>8. Lie: God has abandoned me.</p><p><b>Truth:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”  Hebrews 13:5)</span></p><p>9. Lie: I can’t forgive myself.</p><p><b>Truth: </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)</span></p><p>10. Lie: There’s nothing I can do about the situation.</p><p><b>Truth:</b> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. (Luke 18:1)</span></p><p>11. Lie: It’s up to me to figure out how to fix the problem.</p><p><b>Truth</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)</span></p><p>12. Lie: Worrying is natural.</p><p><b>Truth</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> (Philippians 4:6-7)</span></p><p>13. Lie: I can’t help being afraid.</p><p><b>Truth: </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">F</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">or God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> (2 Timothy 1:7)</span></p><p>14. Lie: I don&#8217;t have the resources.</p><p><b>Truth:</b> <span style="font-weight: 400;">And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)</span></p><p>15. Lie: My work does not matter.</p><p><b>Truth:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. (Colossians 3:23-24)</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">16. Lie: I’m not smart enough.</span></p><p><b>Truth</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 									<p>Comparison is the thief of joy. -Theodore Roosevelt&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>Physical appearance, job title, vacation destinations, restaurants visited, number of Facebook likes &#8211; the number of categories in which we can compare ourselves to others in infinite. So is the number of people to whom we can compare ourselves.</p>
<p>One of the fastest ways of discouraging yourself and getting trapped by the sin of envy is when you compare yourself to others. God has a specific plan for you and you won’t accomplish that plan by looking at others.&nbsp;</p>
<p>These 5 simple will help you stop comparing yourself to others:</p>
<h3><strong>1. Recognize the impact of comparing yourself to others.</strong></h3>
<p>Comparing yourself to others has several negative effects:</p>
<p>a. It fuels feelings of envy, inferiority and resentment.</p>
<p>b. It leads to stress, anxiety, unhappiness and depression.</p>
<p>c. It wrecks friendships.</p>
<p>d. It robs you of precious time you could use to pursue your goals. You only get 86,400 second each day. Why waste even a portion of them comparing yourself to others?&nbsp;</p>
<p>e. It disregards your unique talents and the purpose for which God created you.&nbsp;</p>
<p>f. It disobeys God’s word &#8211; Each of you must examine your own actions. Then you can be proud of your own accomplishments without comparing yourself to others.&nbsp; Assume your own responsibility. (Galatians 6:4-5)</p>
<h3><strong>2. Practice contentment.</strong></h3>
<p>I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:11-13)</p>
<p>This may mean taking a break from social media.</p>
<p>While social media can be a great source for inspiration, it can trigger feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt, and frustration.&nbsp;</p>
<p>As Steven Furtick said: “The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel.”</p>
<h3><strong>3. Develop an attitude of gratitude.</strong>&nbsp;</h3>
<p>Oprah said, “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”</p>
<p>Whenever you find yourself looking at what other people have, remind yourself of what you’re grateful for. That may mean appreciating your family, your wonderful friends, and the fact that you’re living in a country in which you enjoy certain freedoms. In doing so, you shift your focus from what you don’t have, to what you do have.<br>Keep a gratitude journal. Take 5 minutes every evening before going to bed to write down 3 things for which you are grateful.&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>4. Focus on being the best version of yourself.</strong></h3>
<p>“Comparison with myself brings improvement, comparison with others brings discontent” — Betty Jamie Chung</p>
<p>Examine various areas of your life:&nbsp;</p>
<p>a. Health and fitness<br>b. Mind/emotions<br>c. Career<br>d. Family<br>e. Money/finances<br>f. Social/relationships<br>g. Spiritual</p>
<p>Assess how your life is going in each area. Rather than comparing yourself to others, compare yourself to where you were a year ago. Celebrate your progress. Set goals for where you would like to be a year from now.</p>
<p>This is an opportunity to gather ideas from others.</p>
<p>As Tony Robbins said, &#8220;If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you&#8217;ll achieve the same results.</p>
<p>Instead of letting other people’s triumphs be a time to get down on yourself, use them as inspiration for what you can be, do and have in life.</p>
<p>Arrange a conversation with someone who has achieved what you are seeking to achieve.</p>
<h3><strong>5.&nbsp;</strong><a href="http://overcomeproblemsblog.com/stop-negative-thoughts-today-course-2/" target="_blank">Avoid “shoulding”</a><strong>.</strong></h3>
<p>Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14)</p>
<p>Comparison often leads us to practice “shoulding”. We say things such as, “I should be married by now” “I should have more money saved for my retirement” or “I should be further along in my career.” These statements keep you focused on the past. As Paul said, you focus on the future and press forward. After all, there is nothing you can do about the past. But statements like that just keep us focused on what we’re lacking.<br>Instead of using “should” when expressing commitments, use “starting now I will…..” . Follow this up with a goal and action steps spelling out specifically what you will do and when you will do it.</p>
